Voting on Projects

How audience voting works on HackHQ. Browse submissions, score or pick favorites, and cast your votes without creating an account.

Your organizer may share an audience voting link so participants and spectators can vote on submissions. No HackHQ account is needed.

How it works

  1. Click the voting link your organizer shared
  2. You'll see a dashboard with all submissions to review
  3. Browse, search, and evaluate projects
  4. Your progress saves automatically

Voting methods

The organizer chooses which voting method to use. You'll see one of these two experiences:

Score Criteria

You score each submission on criteria the organizer defined (e.g., "Innovation", "Technical Execution"). Each criterion has a slider you drag to set your score. Criteria may have different weights, shown as a badge on each card.

Click any submission to open it, review the project details on the left, and score using the criteria on the right. Scores save automatically as you move sliders.

Top Picks

You pick and rank your favorite submissions. The organizer sets how many picks you get (typically 3). Browse submissions, click to view details, and select your favorites. Use the arrow buttons to reorder your rankings.

Tips for voting

  • Review the project description and any embedded demos before scoring
  • Check the Voting Guidelines sidebar for instructions from the organizer
  • Take your time: you can close the browser and come back later; your link stays active and your progress is saved
  • Search and filter: use the search bar to find specific projects by name, description, or team

Your votes are private. Only the event organizer can see individual scores. Participants see aggregated results only after the organizer publishes them.
