Results Page

View real-time hackathon results, assign awards to winners, publish live leaderboards, and send certificates to participants on HackHQ.

The Results tab is where you review rankings, assign awards to winners, and publish the final leaderboard. Scores are recalculated as judges submit evaluations.

The Results tab

The Results tab has two main sections: the leaderboard on the left and the Awards & Winners sidebar on the right.

Leaderboard

All submissions ranked by their final score:

  • Rank: Position based on average weighted score (appears once any votes have been cast)
  • Submission: Project name with team members and award badges (if assigned)
  • Competitions: Which competitions the submission is entered in
  • Score: Final weighted score (e.g., "9.13 / 10"). Submissions without scores yet show "Awaiting votes"

Click the expand arrow on any row to see per-criterion average scores, track/challenge scores, and voter feedback.

The leaderboard renders the full table as soon as you have submissions, so you can preview the structure before voting opens. Once any vote lands, scored rows fill in and the rank column appears alongside any unscored placeholder rows.

Filtering

By competition: Click the competition pills at the top to filter the leaderboard to a specific track or challenge. This is useful during awards ceremonies to announce winners category by category.

By voter type: Toggle between:

  • All: Combined scores from judges and audience
  • Judges: Only judge scores
  • Audience: Only audience votes

Sorting by criterion

By default, the leaderboard ranks submissions by overall weighted score. Use the Sort dropdown next to the export button to rank by any individual rubric criterion (e.g., Innovation, Sustainability) instead. The selected criterion replaces the score column header and reorders the rows accordingly. The overall score stays visible underneath each row's primary score so you can compare both views.

The active sort is persisted in the URL via ?sort=, so a sorted view is shareable. Clear it by selecting Total score.

Exporting

Click the download icon to export all results as CSV. The export includes final rankings, per-criteria average scores, track/challenge scores, voter feedback, submission details, and team information.

Assigning awards

Awards are the prizes you configured during event setup. To assign a winner, click any award slot in the sidebar (e.g., "1st Place" under "Best Overall").

When you click an award, the leaderboard enters assignment mode:

  • The selected award is highlighted in the sidebar
  • Each leaderboard row gets a purple Assign button
  • The instruction text changes to show which award you're assigning
  • The leaderboard auto-filters to the relevant competition

Click Assign next to the winning submission. The award badge appears instantly on the leaderboard, and the sidebar updates to show the assigned winner. You can reassign awards at any time by clicking the award slot again.

Award badges are color-coded: gold for 1st place, silver for 2nd place, bronze for 3rd place.

Assign all awards before publishing so badges appear immediately when the leaderboard goes live.

Publishing results

The Results & Certificates Published toggle at the top of the Results tab controls what participants can see.

What the toggle controls

When you turn it on, three things happen at once:

  1. Leaderboard goes public: The rankings become visible on the event page and project gallery
  2. Winner badges appear: Award badges show on winning submissions' project pages
  3. LinkedIn certificates become available: Every participant with a submission can access a certificate page and add it to their LinkedIn profile

First-time publishing

The first time you toggle results on, a confirmation dialog appears. It tells you how many participants will be emailed and warns about any unassigned awards.

Clicking Publish & Notify sends an email to all participants with submissions, letting them know their certificates are ready. This email is only sent once, so subsequent toggles just show or hide results without re-sending notifications.

Toggling results off

You can toggle results off at any time to hide the leaderboard and disable certificate access. Turning it back on restores everything without sending another email.

The certificate notification email is sent only once on the first publish. Make sure your awards are assigned before publishing for the best participant experience.
