Workspaces
Manage your HackHQ workspace. Invite team members, assign roles, and organize events under a shared workspace.
A workspace is your team's home on HackHQ. All your events live under a workspace, and everyone in the workspace can access and manage them. You create your first workspace when you create your first event.
Workspace settings
Access workspace settings from the account menu in the top-right corner. The settings page has two sections per workspace: Team and Billing.
Team
The Team page lets you manage who has access to your workspace:
- Workspace name: Rename your workspace at any time
- Team members: View current members and their roles
- Pending invitations: Track invitations that haven't been accepted yet
- Delete workspace: Permanently remove the workspace and all its data
Billing
The Billing page shows a summary of your workspace's payment history and receipts.
HackHQ is billed per event. Upgrade each event to Starter or Pro from its Settings tab.
Roles and permissions
Each workspace member has one of three roles:
| Role | Capabilities |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full access. Can delete events, delete the workspace, and manage billing. Every workspace has exactly one owner. |
| Admin | Can create and manage events, invite members, and change member roles (except Owner). |
| Member | Can create and manage events. Can invite others as Member only. |
All roles can create events, manage submissions, configure judging, and publish results. The main differences are around workspace administration: inviting members, changing roles, and billing.
Inviting members
From the Team page, click Invite member and enter their email address. Choose a role (Admin or Member) and send the invitation.
- Invitations are sent by email with a link to join
- Pending invitations can be revoked or resent
- Only Admins and Owners can invite as Admin; Members can only invite as Member
- No one can invite someone as Owner (ownership is unique)
When someone accepts an invitation, they gain access to all events in the workspace.
Multiple workspaces
If you belong to multiple workspaces, use the workspace switcher in the settings sidebar to navigate between them. Each workspace has its own team, billing, and events.
