Participant View

Every hackathon submission gets a dedicated project page on HackHQ with description, embeds, team info, awards, and certificates.

Every submission on HackHQ gets its own dedicated project page. Participants receive a link to their project page by email after submitting. No HackHQ account is required to access or edit a submission.

There are two versions of the project page: a manage page for the submitter and a share page for public viewing.

Like the event page, both project page links are unlisted and private. They are not indexed by search engines or discoverable publicly. Only people with the link can access them.

Manage page

The manage page is the submitter's private page for their project. This is the link participants receive after submitting.

From the manage page, participants can:

  • View their full submission: project description, custom field responses with auto-embeds, and team members
  • Edit their submission while submissions are open, using the Edit Submission button. Once the deadline passes or submissions close, editing is locked.
  • See awards won after results are published, displayed with gold, silver, and bronze badges
  • Add certificates to LinkedIn: Each team member gets a certificate they can add directly to their LinkedIn profile with one click. Certificates are also viewable via a unique verification URL.
  • Share externally: Copy a read-only link to share the project on social media or portfolios

A banner at the top reminds participants this is their private management link and to use Share Externally for sharing with others.

Organizer access

Organizers can access any submission's manage page from the Manage submission link in the submission detail panel. Even when submissions are closed or past the deadline, organizers can edit using Edit as Organizer, which bypasses the deadline.

Share page

The share page is a read-only view of the project, designed for public sharing.

The share page shows:

  • Project description and custom field responses with embeds
  • Awards won (if results are published)
  • Event details with a link back to the event page
  • Competition categories the project is entered in
  • Submission date

The share page intentionally does not include:

  • Email addresses of team members
  • Edit access or management controls
  • Certificates or LinkedIn buttons

This makes it safe to share on social media, in portfolios, or anywhere participants want to showcase their work.

Certificates

After you publish results, certificates become available on each submission's manage page. Every team member gets their own certificate.

Each certificate includes:

  • The participant's name and team members
  • The project name
  • The event name, dates, and hosting organization
  • Any awards won
  • A unique verification URL

Participants can:

  • Add to LinkedIn with one click, which pre-fills the certification details on their LinkedIn profile
  • View the certificate via a shareable verification link that anyone can access
