Share Links
Understand submission share links on HackHQ. Public read-only project pages vs private manage links for editing.
When a participant submits a project, they receive an email with a link to their project page. Each submission gets two types of URLs with different access levels. These are real links sent directly to participants, not just organizer tools. See Participant View for a detailed breakdown of what each page shows.
Manage URL (private)
A private link that gives the submitter full access to their project.
- View all submission details, including team member emails
- Edit the submission while it's open
- Access certificates and add them to LinkedIn (after results are published)
- Share a read-only link externally
This is the link participants receive by email after submitting. Organizers can also access it from the submission detail panel via Manage submission.
Share URL (public)
A read-only page showing the project details. Safe to share with anyone.
- Shows project name, description, custom field responses, and awards
- Video URLs (YouTube, Loom) render as embedded players
- Does not expose email addresses, edit access, or certificates
- Great for sharing on social media, portfolios, or in the project gallery
Both URLs are unlisted, private links. They are not indexed by search engines. Only people you share the link with can access them.
Teams
Submissions on HackHQ are team-based by default. Each submission includes:
- A team lead who manages the submission (the person who submitted)
- Team members with their names and emails
Participants add team members directly on the submission form. There's no limit to team size. For solo submissions, participants simply don't add extra members.
Participants don't need a HackHQ account to submit, view their project page, or edit their submission. Everything works through the unique links they receive by email.
